Cantù is a town of about 35.000 inhabitants and lies on the northern border of West Brianza. The Municipal District includes an area of 23,18 Km2. There is a town centre and different outlying administrative divisions of the Municipality   Asnago, Cascina Amata, Fecchio, Mirabello, Vighizzolo.

Cantù, the second town of the province, is one of the most important centres of West Brianza, the other one is Mariano Comense, an important economic area characterised by the many craft industries that exist on the northern borders of the province of Milan. The main economic activity is furniture making.

The area is characterised by its own cultural and economic uniqueness and by the mentality of its inhabitants. Both this area and Brianza on generally are related to the same historical foundations, traditions and values, different from those of the rest of Lombardia, particularly in respect of the attitudes of the inhabitants.

HOW TO GET THERE

Cantù is 10 km from Como and 40 km from Milan. You can get there by the A9 Milan motorway Lainate- Como- Chiasso, exit at Fino Mornasco or Lomazzo, by Milan- Lecco highway, exit at Arosio or Mariano Comense, by the S.S dei Giovi; by train :FNM line Milan- Asso (stop at Mariano Comense, connection with bus line); or the FFSS line Como- Lecco (stop at Cantù) and line Milan- Como- Chiasso (stop at Cantù Cermenate); by the bus line from Como and from Milan.
